Meet Yara!
Yara is a 5-year-old terrier mix with a playful spirit, a sensitive heart, and a whole lot of personality packed into her under-30-pound frame.
If you’re looking for a dog who wants to truly bond with her person, Yara may be the perfect fit. She absolutely loves fetch, enjoys going for walks, and never says no to belly rubs. Despite being around 5 years old, Yara acts much younger and has an adorable goofy side that comes out more and more once she feels comfortable.
Yara is housebroken, crate trained, and already knows “sit” and “paw.” She does very well relaxing in her crate or a smaller space while her person is away at work, then is ready to enjoy playtime and walks when you get home.
Like many dogs who may not have had the easiest start, Yara can be nervous in new situations and easily startled by unfamiliar things. Because of this, she’s looking for a calm, structured home with an adopter who understands shy or reactive dogs and is willing to continue helping her build confidence at her own pace.
Yara would do best as the only pet in the home. While she can coexist briefly around some dogs, she is happiest when she doesn’t have to share her space or attention. She also has a strong prey drive and is not suited for homes with cats or small animals.
The people who know Yara best describe her as sweet, playful, loyal, and incredibly rewarding once she trusts you. She may not be the kind of dog who immediately loves every person she meets, but the connection she forms with her people is something really special.
Her ideal home would be in a quieter environment with someone who enjoys walks, playtime, and giving a deserving dog the patience and consistency she needs to thrive.
